I got this because I have a mild interest in trying it; a friend has a dog he hunts squirrels with and next season we're going to take her out together so I can see how she works. I doubt I will actually get a squirrel dog, but you never know. If the book convinces me either way--to get one or not--I'll consider it money well spent. Some excellent-looking recipes in back, too. There is also a good bit of information about squirrel biology and management, including a lot of very recent papers on the subject. In that respect this book is way out in front of the average "how to hunt X" guide, as it is well documented and it's obvious the author is an academic whose used to collating and presenting such information. It isn't peer-reviewed science but it isn't Field & Stream, either.
