Governer Ryan Eyes Reviving Bid To Ban Semiautomatic Firearms

In a move to consolidate the Ryan/Daley gun grabbing machine, Governor George Ryan made a pair of public appearances, one in Chicago, one in Springfield, on Tuesday to unleash new attacks on the law-abiding firearm owner.

Disguised as rallies to bolster support for Ryan's faltering "Safe Neighborhoods Act," the news conferences were nothing more than well-staged attacks on semiautomatic firearms.

Surrounded by such antigun luminaries as Chicago Mayor Daley and Chicago Police Commissioner Hillard, Ryan held up an SKS carbine and dubbed it a "human hunter."  Later, in a second press conference, Ryan made similar remarks about an AR-15 rifle.

Sources close to the action report that Ryan used the press events to telegraph his intent to revive his "assault weapon" ban which has been on the shelf for a decade.  NEISIS has learned that leaders of Chicago gun control groups have been hobnobbing with their counterparts in California and Massachusetts in an effort to craft a ban that would be the basis for a national ban.

NEISIS expects that the Ryan Assault Weapons Ban will be introduced on January 12th by one of Daley's water boys in the House.  Call Governor Ryan's Office today at 217-782-0244 and tell him that he had better think twice about trying to ban semiautomatic firearms.
