To Kinko’s management:
I just returned from a quick trip to my local Kinko's print shop to have yet another job processed for my company. I was both shocked and appalled at the fact that the store, and it's employees, are plastered with promotions for your Pens for Pets donation program, where $0.25 from each Plotter G2 Pen that is sold from 6/1/00 through 8/31/00 is donated to the Humane Society of the United States [HSUS]).
Sure, on the surface this program may look warm and snuggly, but if your company had done any research on this organization at all, you would certainly know that they are one of the most radical animal rights organizations in the nation.
Proper research on your part would have revealed that, contrary to popular belief, the HSUS does not operate animal shelters for dogs and cats. One might assume this from their own misleading advertisements, as well as the promotional posters in your stores. I'm sure you know that the HSUS could not even provide a dog for your promotional poster, but had to borrow one from one of your company's regional managers. Doesn't that seem odd to you?
As you may have guessed, I walked out of that store, after talking to the manager on duty, with my print job still in hand.
Was this “charity promotion” simply poor judgment on your company's part that will be brought to an immediate halt? Or does Kinko's officially condone and sponsor the activities of the HSUS? As a pet owner, circus-goer with my children, sportsman & conservationist, eater of meat and wearer of leather, I would appreciate a timely response so that I may make an informed decision as to where my company does business in the future.
Sincerely,
Robert L. Easterbrook, Jr.
